EcoGents and sustainability (without sermon)
Sustainability (Without Sermon)
"At EcoGents we don't do vague slogans. We do logic. Clothing that can last for years deserves a place in a Tilburg wardrobe, not in an incinerator."
Week of the Circular Economy
During the Week of the Circular Economy we have put it in black and white: at EcoGents we save no less than on average 307 kilos of clothing per week from the waste pile.
This is textiles that would otherwise be shredded or burned. With us it gets a second life, purely through the power of reuse.

Did you know that a lot of donated clothing travels halfway around the world to ultimately end up as insulation material or to be burned?
At EcoGents we keep the chain short: everything stays in Tilburg. Your donation does not go on a boat abroad for profit, but literally goes down the stairs to our basement at the Westermarkt. The most sustainable clothing is the clothing that does not have to travel around the world again.
Our Promise:
- 🚫 NOT Shredded: We do not make cleaning rags from branded clothing.
- 🚫 NOT Burned: Usable items belong in a clothes rack.
- 🚫 NOT Exported: No unnecessary CO2 emissions from transport.
- ✅ 100% Tilburg: From the donor, via Amy, to the new owner.
Love in the cellar
Real sustainability is in it handicrafts. In our basement under the store Amy each item of clothing is personally examined. A lot of vintage clothing needs some love to get that 'new' look again.
Amy washes and irons each item with care. That iron is perhaps our most important weapon against the throwaway culture. By making clothing fresh and perfectly wearable again, we ensure that people really choose second-hand. Clothes that come from Amy smell fresh and look like new.
No sermon, just an invitation
Would you like to see how we give clothing a second life? Then come visit the Westermarkt. You don't have to save the world, you just have to wear clothes that you are proud of.
