EcoGents starts crowdfunding: help build the ultimate vintage man cave!
Tilburg – EcoGents, the only store in the Netherlands that focuses entirely on second-hand and vintage men's clothing, wants to expand. Underneath the store at Westermarkt 35A lies a hidden gem: a 500m² cellar that is waiting for a new life. Fred and Amy want to transform it into a man cave where sustainability, style and experience come together.
Unique in the Netherlands: second-hand men's clothing and space for others
EcoGents started in 2018 with a simple closet cleanout. What started as Marktplaats sales grew into a unique store. Fred says: "We are the only store in the Netherlands that focuses entirely on second-hand and vintage men's clothing."
In 2024, EcoGents moved to the old Blokker building on the Westermarkt. “A beautiful place, but in poor condition,” says Amy. "We renovated everything ourselves – from floor to ceiling." That investment drained their piggy bank. Now they want to breathe new life into the cellar.
Building something bigger together
The crowdfunding has started well, but more help is needed. The basement requires major renovation. Fred and Amy want to make it more than just retail space. “We dream of a place where other sustainable entrepreneurs can also present themselves,” says Amy. Think of a permanent place for circular makers, small-scale vintage labels and creative workshops such as upcycling or repair.
“This basement offers space for a whole movement,” says Fred. “Not just for us, but for everyone who does business sustainably and creatively.”
