How It Began (2018)
EcoGents was founded in 2018, quite innocently. After we moved in together and the closet turned out to be too small (or Fred simply had too many clothes), Amy came up with the idea of selling part of it via Marktplaats.
That went surprisingly well. We soon noticed that there was a huge demand for beautiful second-hand and vintage men's clothing — provided it was carefully selected. What started as an online experiment grew into a physical place where people could try on and watch quietly.
The first 'shop' in Moergestel
We found our first physical location in a upstairs space in Moergestel, on the Industrieweg, in the former gallery 'De Verdieping'. After extensive renovations and a lot of lugging, we opened our first EcoGents showroom there in December 2018. Here we laid the foundation for what EcoGents is today: a store that does not feel like a thrift store, but like a men's store with character. The down-to-earth Brabant hospitality that we started there is still the core of our company.
The step to the Westermarkt
Moergestel quickly became too small for our ambitions. We moved to the Westermarkt 14 in Tilburg. This was the moment when EcoGents, despite all the corona misery immediately at our start, really matured. We were given the space to showcase our vision of sustainable men's fashion on a larger scale.
Recognition & Growth
A special moment followed in 2024: EcoGents was named at the Fashion Shop Awards best men's fashion store in North Brabant and ended that year third nationally.
In 2025, that confidence was further confirmed. Once again we became best in North Brabant — and this time too best men's fashion store in the whole of the Netherlands. with an average of 9.89 customer rating.
Today: 300m² Pure Experience
In October 2024 we started a new chapter: after five years at our first location, we moved to a much larger building on Westermarkt 35A (the former Blokker building). With more space, more peace and even more attention to experience.
We have now grown into a unique showroom 300m². With the smell of Chesterfields, vinyl in the background and a huge collection of designer and vintage clothing. Whether you shop online or visit us in Tilburg: you are welcome in our world.
